Vintage Shelley Fine Bone China Tea Set 21 Pieces Rose Bouquet c1950

  

Pretty vintage fine bone china tea set by Shelley in their'Rose Bouquet' pattern, a blousey spray of summer roses in pretty pinks, mauves and blues. Transfer printed over a white body and hand finished with pale pink edging, the handles of the cups, jug and cake plate are also coloured pale pink.... The pieces are marked "Fine Bone China, Shelley, England" and the pattern is number 2338, Rose Bouquet.

Everything has the standard printed backstamp in use from 1938 - 1966. The cup shape is'Richmond' and then set probably dates from early 1950's. The set consists of 21 pieces, approximate measurement are as follows. 1 Cake Plate - 25.5cm across the widest part with tab handles. 1 Sugar Bowl/Basin - 6.5cm tall; 11.5cm wide.

1 Cream/Milk Jug - 9cm at the tallest part; 8cm across the mouth of the jug. 6 Cups - 7cm tall; 8.5cm across the bowl. 6 Saucers - 14.5cm diameter. 6 Side Plates - 15.5cm diameter. Excellent vintage condition throughout, colours shiny and the glaze finish is bright.

One of the cups has a little chip on the rim, see picture, it is not too noticeable. The sugar bowl has a deep scratch inside, not visible to the naked eye, and the structure is not compromised in any way, it rings true. This would make a perfect gift for a bride or anniversary.....
