Silver plated Walker and Hall Pride pattern 3 piece tea set designed by David Mellor. The pride tea set designed by David Mellor was produced by Walker and Hall of Sheffield and was first recorded in their design ledger on 11. March 1957(Sheffield city archives). It went into full production around 1957/58 and went on to win a Design Centre award soon after.
The award was presented to the then Managing Director Peter Inchbald by The Duke of Edinburgh. This set consists of teapot with pull-off lid and composition handle and finial, cream jug and sugar bowl. The Walker and Hall mark together with pattern no 53722 is stamped on the base of each piece. This is a heavy set the teapot weighing approx 750 grams, creamer 250 grams and sugar 300grams. Total weight approx 1.3 Kilos.
Teapot height 14 cm (5.5 inches), creamer and sugar height both 7.5 cm (3 inches). Condition In very good condition with no dents or knocks. The pot is very clean inside suggesting the set has only ever been a display item.
